Part Time Timetable and Flexi-Schooling Notification Form

The DfE statutory guidance (DfE School Attendance July 2019) states all pupils of compulsory school age are entitled to a full-time education. In very exceptional circumstances there may be a need for a temporary part-time timetable to meet a pupil’s individual needs. For example where a medical condition prevents a pupil from attending full-time education and a part-time timetable is considered as part of a re-integration package. A part-time timetable must not be treated as a long-term solution.

Schools should notify the Local Authority of any cases where a child is accessing reduced/part-time education arrangements. This includes schools maintained by the local authorities, academies, free schools and independent schools. This also includes any flexi-schooling (or flexible school attendance) arrangements in place whereby school and parents have agreed that a child will be schooled at home but will also attend school for specific days of the week.

This form should also to be used to update a previous part-time notification. Upon receiving this form, the Local Authority may contact the school to agree any further action regarding the pupil’s education arrangement.

Please note that if a part-time timetable is not working, school should consider sending in an absence notification instead. If a child has an EHCP, schools must also consider whether an Emergency Review needs to be requested as well.
If there is reason to believe a child is in immediate danger or at risk of harm, please contact Children's Social Care immediately on 01905 822666 (or if out of hours 01905 768020), and call 999 and report the information to the Police if appropriate.
