Autism in the Early Years 

An overview of how autism presents in pre-school settings and a range of practical strategies to support autistic children and those with complex communication needs.

This 90-minute opportunity covers:

• What is autism?
• A neurodiversity-affirming understanding of autism in the early years.
• How autism may present in pre-school settings.
• Communication, play and social interaction in young autistic children.
• Sensory processing, regulation and environmental considerations.
• Practical strategies to support participation, learning and wellbeing.

Each delegate will:

• Develop and/or enhance their awareness and understanding of autism.
• Gain practical strategies to implement within their setting.
• Develop confidence in making small adjustments which can have a significant impact on inclusion and participation.
• Reflect on how to create more autism-friendly environments and experiences.
