7575: Motivational Interviewing - key principles and considerations for practice 

This focused 1 day motivational interviewing session is designed to provide the key principles and tools to understand what is motivational interviewing and a guide to how you can use it in your practice.  This session has been specifically set up to support the “Worcestershire Family Safeguarding Pilot” as one of the key components to the model is the use of motivational interviewing.  Therefore teams who are part of this pilot are required to attend.  
Learning objectives

By the end of the course you will be able to:

• Understand the principles and practice of Motivational Interviewing
• Appreciate how to guide individuals to uncover their intrinsic desire to change
• Explore the concept of cognitive dissonance
• Explore the limitations of Motivational Interviewing
• Utilise reflective listening and motivational questions to break through denial and resistance to change
