Description:
A course for any adult with an interest in experimenting with mixed media in a welcoming and supportive environment where one of our Adult Learning Resident Artists guide you as you explore new skills. Sessions give you the flexibility to use newer and older materials in conjunction with one another to make visually exciting pieces of art. During this course you will gain the confidence to experiment with a range of different media, composing many combinations of materials in an ever-evolving art form. You will identify your own creative aspirations to express your mood or feelings and enhance your own art ideas through these. By the end of the course we hope that you will have produced pieces that you are proud to display in your home or gift to others!
Mixed media gives you the chance to play and experiment in various ways so that your senses can be explored to the fullest. You will explore many ways of working in mixed media bringing together different artistic resources that combine to create wonderful and wild effects. These courses are designed with the beginner in mind but by the end of the course, you will have learned how to make art in ways that will always impress. You will use different techniques with each media as you mix them together and produce a range of artworks that you will have to see to believe. You will expand on traditional techniques and learn how to manipulate materials 2d and 3d to have the most fun.
Learners who take this course often enjoy steering the themes and content that inspire what is produced during this class. If you have a certain image in mind that you have always dreamt of producing, or a particular artist that you would love to emulate, then this is the course for you! Our tutors will encourage you to share stimulus material as part of the course and individualise the session content to meet your needs and interests.
Additional Information: This course is one of our subsidised Community Learning courses. Community Learning is part-funded by the government to encourage adults aged 19+ to return to learning, to build confidence in new skills and to take an active role within their community. Learners who join our Community Learning programme go on to a whole range of opportunities afterwards! Some stay with us a bit longer to develop additional skills; others decide to take a qualification with us; some progress to higher level learning at college or university; some find a new job using their new skills, or develop their own business; others volunteer within their community and some join recreational clubs and societies that they find out about during our course. Where will your course take you?!
