822 - Introduction to Textiles

Have you ever wanted to try your hand at working with textiles? This course will introduce you to a range of textile techniques and give you the opportunity to experiment with them in a creative way. You will explore hand embroidery using traditional embroidery stitches and couching, sashiko embroidery and boro patchwork. You will try printmaking using Gelli plates and relief print techniques. In the final stages of the project you will combine these skills to create a final piece of artwork.  Throughout the course you will be introduced to artists and designers working with textiles to inspire you and help your own textiles skills flourish.
