203 - English Functional Skills (E3/L1)

Description:
This 35 week Functional Skills English qualification course is designed to develop your practical skills for the modern world and help you get the most from life, learning and work.  During the course you will develop communication skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening.  Classes cover everyday word skills like reading and understanding texts - such as forms, newspapers, applications, letters and other types of written information. Features of writing such as spelling, punctuation and grammar are also covered.

This course is an alternative to GCSE and leads to a qualification at Entry 3 or Level 1.  The qualification is usually taken by native speakers, but learners with fluent skills who speak English as an additional language may also benefit from the course. It is only for learners who do not already have a GCSE or equivalent pass grade in  English (C/ 4  or above) -  your learning will be free as a result.

If you are booking an online course, you will need to be able to connect to the internet using a computer with a separate keyboard.  Connecting using a mobile phone or any device (e.g. tablet) with an onscreen keyboard will not be possible.  You will also need access to a printer.  If you do not have one, you could use the printing services at your local library.
Additional Information:

After applying for a place on this course, you will complete an initial assessment. Once you have completed this, we will offer you a place on this course, or signpost you to a more suitable alternative if necessary.

Most of our courses are subsidised either wholly or in part by the Adult Skills Fund (ASF). The ASF require us to collect information about our learners to monitor how their funding is being spent and to gauge the effectiveness of our equality and diversity policy. You will therefore be asked to submit further enrolment data once you have booked your place. We only collect data that is required by the ASF, and use it in line with our privacy notice. We may not be able to offer you a place on our courses if you're unable to provide us with the required information. We endeavour to continue to provide free and subsidised courses for the people of Worcestershire. We thank you for your cooperation.

Please Note: To enrol on this course you must register your interest first. One of our staff will then contact you to ensure suitability. At which point we will confirm your booking.
