307 - Level 2 Award in Nail Technology

Description: 

This short qualification is for learners seeking a career as an employed or self-employed nail technician or beauty therapist. It is based on the nail services National Occupational Standards (NOS) and is approved by the Hair and Beauty Industry Authority (HABIA).  The course includes the core practical skills and knowledge you will need to work as a nail technician including providing and maintaining nail enhancements, manicure treatments, health and safety, and client care.

The course is assessed using classroom-based assessment as well as an examination. On successful completion of the course, learners can progress to a full Level 2 qualification such as the Diploma in Beauty Specialist Techniques or Diploma in Hair and Media Make up Studies. The course can also support a move into employment or self-employment within the nail industry.

Additional Information: Some previous relevant learning is needed to do this course.  It is suitable for those looking to add to or update existing nail technician skills. A course such as our Level 1 Award in Nail Art Application meets the most basic entry requirement. If you are unsure whether your previous learning is relevant, don't worry, our staff will discuss this with you before enrolment to make sure the course is suitable. You will also need a good standard of written and spoken English. 

After completing this course, you can progress to a full Level 2 Beauty qualification, using your skills in the workplace or another of our short skills enhancement courses.
 

After applying for a place on this course, you will be invited to an interview. Once you have completed this, we will offer you a place on this course, or signpost you to a more suitable alternative if necessary.

You will be able to join this course for Free/No charge, if you meet one of the following criteria:
  • I am unemployed AND I can show evidence of Job Seeker's Allowance (JSA), Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) or Universal Credit (UC single - income under £892  per month or UC joint - income under £1437 per month)
  • I am unemployed, but I am not claiming any benefits and cannot provide a UC statement. I need to speak to someone about my eligibility for this course.
  • I am employed or self-employed and I earn below £25,000 annual gross salary. I can show a wage slip, contract or Universal Credit statement showing this.
