204 - English Functional Skills (L2)

Description:
This 35 week Functional Skills English L2 qualification course is designed to develop your practical skills for the modern world and help you get the most from life, learning and work.  During the course you will develop communication skills in reading, writing, speaking and listening.  Classes cover everyday word skills like reading and understanding texts - such as forms, newspapers, applications, letters and other types of written information. Features of writing such as spelling, punctuation and grammar are also covered.

This course is an alternative to GCSE.  A level 2 pass is equivalent to a Grade 4 pass in GCSE English and is an acceptable alternative for the majority of job/course requirements. The qualification is usually taken by native speakers, but learners with fluent skills who speak English as an additional language may also benefit from the course. It is only for learners who do not already have a  GCSE or equivalent pass grade in  English (C/ 4  or above) -  your learning will be free as a result.

Additional Information:

After applying for a place on this course, you will need to complete an initial assessment. Once you have completed this, we will offer you a place on this course, or signpost you to a more suitable alternative if necessary.

Most of our courses are subsidised either wholly or in part by Adult Skills Funding (ASF). ASF require us to collect information about our learners to monitor how their funding is being spent and to gauge the effectiveness of our equality and diversity policy. You will therefore be asked to submit further enrolment data once you have booked your place. We only collect data that is required by ASF, and use it in line with our privacy notice. We may not be able to offer you a place on our courses if you're unable to provide us with the required information. We endeavour to continue to provide free and subsidised courses for the people of Worcestershire. We thank you for your cooperation.

Please Note: To enrol on this course you must register your interest first. One of our staff will then contact you to ensure suitability. At which point we will confirm your booking.
