Description:
This 31-week online
Level 1 Functional Skills Maths course will help you to improve your maths skills for real life, work and learning. You will learn how to solve everyday problems using numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, measures, shapes and data handling. The aim is to support you to gain a
City & Guilds Level 1 Functional Skills Maths qualification and to feel more confident using maths in practical situations. This course is perfect for those who wish to progress to a Level 2 maths qualification in the future.
This course requires a high level of commitment. Success relies on your ability to complete a significant amount of homework tasks, attend all taught sessions and to have maths skills at an appropriate level.
This course is only for learners who do not already have a GCSE or equivalent pass grade in maths (C/4 or above) - your learning will be free as a result. The qualification is usually taken by those with English as their first language, but learners with fluent skills who speak English as an additional language may also benefit from the course.
As this is an online course using Microsoft Teams, you will need to be able to connect to the internet using a computer with a separate keyboard. Connecting using a mobile phone or any device (e.g. tablet) with an onscreen keyboard will not be possible. You will also need access to a printer. If you do not have one, you could use the printing services at your local library.
Additional Information: Before being accepted on to this course, you will complete BKSB online initial and diagnostic assessments and a member of staff will contact you to make sure this course is right for you or signpost you to a more suitable option.
