207 - Maths Functional Skills (L2)

Description:
This 31 week online course is an alternative to GCSE.  A level 2 pass is equivalent to a Grade 4 pass in GCSE Maths and is an acceptable alternative for the majority of job/course requirements. This course will help you to improve your maths skills for real life, work and learning. You will learn how to apply maths to solving multi-step problems using numbers, fractions, decimals, percentages, measures, shapes  and data handling. The aim is to support you to gain a City & Guilds Level 2 Functional Skills Maths qualification and to feel more confident using maths in practical situations.  This course requires a high level of commitment. Success relies on your ability to complete a significant amount of homework tasks, attend all taught sessions and have maths skills at an appropriate level.
The qualification is usually taken whose first language is English,  but learners with fluent skills who speak English as an additional language can also take the course. It is only for learners who do not already have a GCSE or equivalent pass grade in maths (C/ 4  or above) -  your learning will be free as a result.

As this is an online course using Microsoft Teams, you will need to be able to connect to the internet using a computer with a separate keyboard.  Connecting using a mobile
phone or any device (e.g. tablet) with an onscreen keyboard will not be possible.  You will also need access to a printer.  If you do not have one, you could use the printing services at your local library.
