This beginner friendly course is designed to help you feel more confident using your smartphone or tablet. Whether you are completely new to smart devices or want to improve your basic skills, the course will guide you through the essential features that can make everyday digital tasks easier. By the end of the course, you will be able to:
- Access and adjust at least three settings on your device including connecting to the internet safely.
- Use common pre-installed apps such as Contacts, Clock, Calendar, Calculator and Camera.
- Set up and manage an email account, including sending, receiving and opening emails
- Stay safe while using your device and browsing the internet by learning practical online safety tips.
Before the start of the course, the tutor will call you to conduct an initial assessment to ensure this is the right course for you. Please note that the assessment may take place on a different day from the main course.
**Entry requirements: This course is aimed at learners with no or little experience of using digital devices. You must be able to communicate clearly in English, read and write and understand instructions.
Learners will need to bring their own smartphones/tablets, fully charged and be prepared to connect to Wi-Fi.
After completing this course, you may want to continue your learning by progressing onto one of our Digital Skills courses, where you can continue building your digital confidence.
