Description:

Our Young Adult Learning programme is a great choice for young people aged 16-19* who want to continue their learning in a small, specialist centre where each learner co-designs their own pathway with us.  No two learners follow an identical timetable.  Our team work with prospective learners to design a programme which will be the best fit for personal needs, interests and aspirations.

Each person joins us with different past experiences, qualifications already gained and reasons they want an alternative to mainstream college or sixth form.  We consider these when designing plans with learners.

Some aspects of our programmes are mandatory.  For example, some learners will need to continue English and maths study if they have not already achieved Level 2 qualifications.  For learners who join us from overseas and need English speaking skills, we provide English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) tuition.  All learners will also study modules to aid their future employment and to enhance their personal wellbeing and development.

The core modules are then supplemented with choices from our vocational and enrichment options.  At our centre in Redditch, these can include:

(a) Creative and Service Industries
(b) Digital Skills, Technologies and Marketing
(c) Health and Social Care

Additional Information:

Our vocational and enrichment options are provided as a mixture of qualification and non-qualification choices.  Most of our options are offered at Level 1 and Level 2.  If a qualification is offered, the level, size and mixture of units will be chosen to match the needs of the learner.

Joining Young Adult Learning just starts with a chat and the offer of a visit to our centre; register your interest to get a call-back so we can see if we are a good match for you.  Our Redditch programme is offered from Willow Trees Community Centre in Churchill.

* Learners aged 19-24 who have an Education, Health and Care Plan are also eligible to request a place with Young Adult Learning.

Most of our courses are subsidised either wholly or in part by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA). The ESFA require us to collect information about our learners to monitor how their funding is being spent and to gauge the effectiveness of our equality and diversity policy. You will therefore be asked to submit further enrolment data once you have booked your place. We only collect data that is required by the ESFA, and use it in line with our privacy notice. We may not be able to offer you a place on our courses if you're unable to provide us with the required information. We endeavour to continue to provide free and subsidised courses for the people of Worcestershire. We thank you for your cooperation.
