Description:
A Traineeship is a course that includes a work experience placement and helps you prepare for employment or an apprenticeship. They are a great option if you are hoping to join an apprenticeship but want to gain more confidence and/or skills first. Our Traineeships usually last one year and give you a great range of practical skills and knowledge in subjects that will help you step into your chosen career. Work Experience is a large part of a Traineeship and lots of your learning will be done with a supportive employer who has agreed to help train you. If you want less work experience and more tutor-led support, we have options for that too.
Our Traineeships for Non-Teaching Roles in Schools cover a range of opportunities to meet your needs and interests. Placements could include options such as:
- Caretaking, site and grounds maintenance
- School business support
- Catering
- Digital Technician & Support
- Laboratory Technician & Support
As part of your Traineeship, we offer the City & Guilds Level 2 Award in Support Work in Schools qualification. This is a knowledge-based qualification suitable for all roles in schools. It seeks to develop the knowledge and understanding that all those working in a school setting will need.
The qualification covers areas such as:
- Child and young person development
- Safeguarding the welfare of children and young people
- Communication and professional relationships with children, young people and adults
- Equality, diversity and inclusion in work with children and young people
- Schools as organisations
The award covers the current mandatory units of the Support Work in Schools qualifications, supplemented with additional material drawn from the induction modules developed by the Training and Development Agency for local authorities.
Additional Information: This qualification is offered as part of a Traineeship for learners aged 16-19. Traineeships are full-time learning courses which include other mandatory units and qualifications such as English, Maths, Essential Digital Skills, work experience and preparing for employment. You will be provided with full details when making your enquiry.
Please note that the actual timings for each day will be confirmed during your six-week induction period.
Most of our courses are subsidised either wholly or in part by the Education and Skills Funding Agency (ESFA). The ESFA require us to collect information about our learners to monitor how their funding is being spent and to gauge the effectiveness of our equality and diversity policy. You will therefore be asked to submit further enrolment data once you have booked your place. We only collect data that is required by the ESFA, and use it in line with our privacy notice. We may not be able to offer you a place on our courses if you're unable to provide us with the required information. We endeavour to continue to provide free and subsidised courses for the people of Worcestershire. We thank you for your cooperation.
