Assessing Reading in KS2 

Description: 

This workshop will support teachers and leaders of reading to revisit the NC for reading in KS2 and consider what pupils need to know and be able to do in relation to reading by the end of LKS2 and UKS2.

Focusing on how to assess pupils’ achievement and progress in reading and will consider how to plan appropriate opportunities to assess their reading. We will look at a range of strategies that can be used to check for understanding, comprehension and fluency and share range of tools to evidence children’s learning.

We will also consider the end of KS2 SAT’s reading tests and how, throughout the key stage, teachers build pupils’ resilience, automaticity, and comprehension to secure success!

We will share with you a toolkit of activities that can be used to provide further evidence teacher assessment in reading.
