Description:
Specific training for School / College Designated Safeguarding Leads (DSL's) and Deputy DSL's.
The training is designed to refresh and update knowledge on the Early Help and Child Protection Procedures.
By the end of the session, participants will:
- Reinforce understanding of the Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) role, including key responsibilities and expectations within safeguarding practice.
- Develop confidence in recognising when and how to make a referral to the Family Front Door (FFD), ensuring appropriate and timely action.
- Enhance decision-making around information sharing, including when to share, when not to share, and when to seek further advice.
- Build confidence in completing and contributing to Early Help Assessments, ensuring effective early intervention and support for children and families.
- Build confidence in using the WSCP escalation policy, to improve communications and improve child outcomes
Pricing structure for September 2026 to July 2027:
- Free to schools who have purchased the Education Safeguarding Support SLA for 26/27
- Schools who DO NOT have the Safeguarding SLA for 26/27, the cost is £186 + VAT
Additional Information: Please note that if you are a New DSL or Deputy DSL and have never undertaken DSL training before you will need to complete the Introduction to the Role of the School Designated Safeguarding Lead. This will be a digital virtual course, made up of three parts.
The Introduction to the role of the DSL is currently in development, as of 04 June 2026, once the digitial material has been received and tested - CPD will be updated to reflect that this new course is available to request.
