Trauma-Informed Leadership for Governors: Strengthening Whole-School Approaches

Description:

This two-hour session is designed to strengthen governors’ understanding of the critical importance of trauma-informed and attachment-aware practice within school communities.

Participants will explore how Worcestershire schools are embedding these approaches as part of a whole-school vision through the Trauma-Informed Practitioner journey. From a governor’s perspective, the course will highlight what effective implementation looks like, and how to champion and sustain this work strategically.

The session will provide:

  • Insight into why trauma-informed and attachment-aware approaches are essential for pupil wellbeing, behaviour, and attainment
  • Practical guidance on shaping and supporting a whole-school vision
  • Key strategic considerations for governance and leadership
  • Targeted questions governors can use to support, challenge, and monitor progress
  • Tools and resources to help evaluate impact and measure ongoing development

This course equips governors with the knowledge and confidence to play an active role in creating inclusive, resilient, and supportive school environments where all children can thrive.
