The EYFS teaching & learning webcast series is designed to gain an understanding of the requirements we must meet as registered childcare providers for children aged birth to five, and is made up of four episodes:
1: The Principles of the EYFS
2: The Characteristics of Effective Learning
3: The Characteristics of Effective Teaching
4: The Observation, assessment, planning cycle
Audience: Nurseries / Pre-Schools and those working with 0-4’s in schools, those new to the sector or for more established practitioners it has been designed to prompt reflection and discussion within your teams

Additional Information: Overview of the four parts
1: The Principles of the EYFS we begin to understand the rationale and principles that underpin the EYFS statutory requirements and spend some time to reflect on how we can then use this to shape our early years practice
2: The Characteristics of Effective Learning we take a deep dive into how children learn, considering how we can embrace these as part of our day-to-day provision.
3: The Characteristics of Effective Teaching we will now focus on our role as teacher, unpicking Ofsted’s definition of teaching to recognise the positive impact you have on children within the early years
4: The Observation, assessment, planning (OAP) cycle we will consider what we must do and how these fits into the OAP cycle. Exploring how to capture meaningful learning in action, ways in which to document this and how we then plan next steps, so this process is meaningful and has purpose
