Session 1 will be focussed on EYFS Profile Assessment Support: Professional Dialogue.
This session will give practitioners the opportunity to strengthen confidence, clarity, and consistency in assessment through high-quality professional dialogue, shared interpretation of criteria, and reflection on GLD data.
The School Improvement Team is offering funded support sessions across the next three terms to strengthen the accuracy and consistency of teacher assessment at the end of the reception year. The support aims to:
- develop practitioners’ and leaders’ knowledge and expertise
- address common misconceptions about assessment requirements
- improve the reliability of EYFS profile assessment data
Strengthening assessment practice will also support children’s successful transition to Year 1 by ensuring that professional dialogue is informed by accurate and consistent judgements.

Session 2 (Autumn Term 2026): EYFS Profile Assessment Support: Formative assessment
- This session introduces how Reception teachers can use everyday formative assessment to understand and support children’s learning, alongside effective transition practice into Reception.
Session 3 (Spring Term 2027): EYFS Profile Assessment Support:Summative Assessment
- This session helps Reception teachers make confident, consistent EYFSP judgements, looks at the best-fit model, and strengthens professional dialogue.
