8191: ACE - Foster Carer Training - Supporting Children to Transition to their Adoptive Family

To enable foster carers who are supporting children to move onto their adoptive families to understand the theory and research behind the transition planning used by ACE and how they can best support the children through this process.
To learn about the expectations that will be placed on you as foster carers moving a child on to an adoptive placement.
• To consider the child’s feelings and emotions including their secure base and how you can support this during transitions.
• To think about how you care for a child, how you prepare a child and how you pass on your knowledge and skills to adopters.
• To explore child focussed transition planning and the roles played by foster carers and other professionals within this process.
• To give you an opportunity to think about how the transitions process may affect you and your family members.
• To consider what support you or the child may need to enable successful transitions.
• To consider how adoption transitions and learning from these can be transferred to any transitions for children in care.
