By the end of this course delegates will:  
• Be able to explain the importance of personal preparation and risk assessments in the prevention of violent incidents.
• Understand the role of non-verbal signals in assessing/identifying people who are exhibiting behaviour that indicates an escalation towards aggression/violence.
• Describe and demonstrate methods for improving basic personal safety in crisis situations
• Draw up a personal action plan to reduce the risks.
• Understand good interpersonal behaviour describe the de-escalation of a crisis situation, by using non-verbal strategies.
• MAPA model techniques
• Have a theoretical understanding of breakaway techniques/interventions that are consistent with a set of physiological principles.
